Texts and Images. Digital Humanities and the Discourse of Modernity
The project objective is to develop a virtual research environment allowing for integrating text- and image-centered methods and technologies. This environment will provide access to a digital corpus of historical sources containing texts as well as images, in particular in the form of illustrated books and articles. Using flexible information extraction methods and sophisticated tools for text and image analysis, the corpus will be systematically scanned and studied. As a result, the research environment will become a key reference of historically informed and theoretically reflected investigations into the relationship between text and image.
