Lectionary Database ThALES

Database of fixed liturgical readings in Late Antique and Medieval Jewish and Christian worship. The database contains currently ca. 15000 readings, from 34 lectionaries, on 4000 events and is growing further in order to study comfortably the use of the Bible in its most important context - liturgy. Bible passages can be visualized currently for the Hebrew Bible, the Septuagint, the Syriac Peshitta, Latin Vulgate and Coptic New Testament.
Three different tools give access to the data. Firstly, a search interface allows to look for biblical passages, specific days or dates or saints that can be combined with logical operators.
Secondly, a calendar comparison tool permits to reconstruct the liturgical calendars of any series of lectionaries for any given year in several different calendar systems (i.e. Julian, Gregorian, Jewish, Armenian, Coptic, Ethiopic, Islamic).
Thirdly, an automatic synopsis tool permits to establish a table to permit easy comparison of different lectionaries of similar families.
