VACANCY: Research Fellow (digital musicology), Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (0.6FTE)
A digital musicologist is required to join the research team working on the AHRC-funded ‘Interpreting the Mensural Notation of Music: An Expert System Based on the Theory of Johannes Tinctoris’ project at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. We are looking for someone with a solid background in coding and familiarity with MEI. It would be desirable, but not essential, for the successful candidate to be acquainted with pre-1600 (or better still, pre-1500) music, and also machine learning. The appointment is at the level of Research Fellow (equivalent to Lecturer in the UK, Assistant Professor in North America) at 0.6 FTE (3 days a week) until the end of the project on 30 September 2021. The deadline for applications is 17 January 2020.
It would not be necessary for the postholder to relocate to Birmingham, since the duties could easily be carried out remotely. International applications are therefore warmly invited.
