EADH Admits CzADH as Its New Associated Organization

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) is pleased to announce the acceptance of The Czech Association for Digital Humanities (CzADH) as its new associated organization. Following a year of partnership status with EADH, CzADH now joins the Italian, Nordic and German-speaking associations in the efforts to promote and represent Digital Humanities across Europe under the auspices of EADH. EADH welcomes the increasing diversity that the Czech associated organization brings to the community of European scholars working in the Humanities with digital tools and methods. The inclusion of CzADH further strengthens the network of associated and partner organizations brought together by EADH. The members of CzADH will henceforth be able to benefit from all the advantages and rights ensuing from the full EADH membership.

EADH represents European Digital Humanities across all disciplines and, in addition to individual members, comprises of four associated organizations: AIUCD (Associazione Informatica Umanistica e Cultura Digitale), DHd (Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum), DHN (Digital humaniora i Norden), and CzADH (Česká asociace pro digitální humanitní vědy). EADH is also a constituent organization of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO), a worldwide umbrella organization that promotes and supports digital research and teaching.

CzADH was formally established in June 2017 and currently represents over 30 scholars and librarians from a wide range of Czech universities, libraries, and research institutes, with the new recruitment opening in 2018. The goal of CzADH is to support research collaboration, exchange of information, teaching, and public engagement in all flavors of the digital scholarship in the Humanities, both nationally and internationally. According to CzADH’s Chair, Radim Hladík, “In the absence of significant institutional background for Digital Humanities in the Czech Republic, CzADH has a very important role to play in coordinating activities of the local Digital Humanities community and representing its interests. The admission of CzADH to EADH is a key step towards embedding Czech researchers working on digital projects in a respected European scholarly network.”

EADH zastupuje evropské digitální humanitní vědy napříč všemi humanitními obory a kromě individuálních členů ji tvoří čtyři přidružené organizace: AIUCD (Associazione Informatica Umanistica e Cultura Digitale), DHd (Digital Humanities im deutschsprachigen Raum), DHN (Digital humaniora i Norden) a CzADH (Česká asociace pro digitální humanitní vědy).

CzADH byla formálně založena v červnu 2017 a v současné době zastupuje více než 30 badatelů a knihovníků z celé řady českých univerzit, knihoven a výzkumných ústavů, přičemž v roce 2018 zahajuje nový nábor členů.
