THE INSTITUTIONS Together the German Literary Archive Marbach, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel curate collections which give access to over five hundred years of German and European cultural and literary history. For the last five years, these three bodies have been working on collaborative research projects, funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, in order to further interdisciplinary research projects and to establish a digital research infrastructure. https://mww-forschung.de/
THE RESEARCH PROJECT A second five-year phase of funding for the research collaboration Marbach Weimar Wolfenbüttel (MWW) began on 1 March 2019. During this phase a Digital Humanities Laboratory (Unit) is going to be established, with the aim of supporting the research project both technologically and methodically in its exploration and communication of the three partner institutions‘ holdings.
JOB DESCRIPTION (Reference number 52/2019) The research association MWW is now looking to recruit a HEAD of the Digital Humanities Laboratory to set up and develop the unit. The post will be based in Weimar. The appointment is initially made until 28.02.2024, with the possibility of becoming permanent, a spart oft he strategic development of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. Payment will be made on the public sector pay scale (E15 TV-L). - Leading the digital humanities unit in the MWW research project, working closely with the MWW directors, as well as the personnel responsible for research, libraries and IT in each of the three institutions. - Planning and controlling the budget relating to IT and digital humanities investments - Developing and executing a longterm strategy for acquiring sources of external funding for the research group - Conception and execution of international conferences and workshops - Integrating the research group into international academic networks and communities, inside and outside of the university sector
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS - Candidates must have PhD-level academic qualifications in one the following fields: humanities, cultural studies, digital humanities and / or computational linguistics - Proven experience of working and publishing in digital humanities - Excellent skills in the area of humanities-based research infrastructure - Project management experience - Familiarity with digital project management tools and communication tools - Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team - Excellent organisational and time management skills - Knowledge of national and international funding processes - Basic German language skills
