9 Mar 2011 - 00:00

The field of humanities is undergoing a radical transformation in its encounter with rapid developments in the digital domain. In response to this situation, various efforts have been undertaken based on collaboration between the humanities and the information technologies in both Japan and elsewhere. Aiming to develop the connections between international and domestic activities on various levels, the recently established Japanese Association for Digital Humanities (JADH) is organizing an inaugural symposium in Osaka, Japan. Panels and papers will be heard on a wide range of topics, including statistical text mining, XMLand multi-language parallel text corpora, music audio analysis, analyses of Noh plays, and digital humanities for Japanese arts and cultures more generally.
